Week two was crazy busy, but still surprisingly relaxing. This house was busting with people all week long. My grandma (GG) came to visit along with my Aunt Carole, Uncle Robb and Uncle Dan. And they were coming as the daddies were going back home to work. It was great fun even though the activities were the same: beach, pool, dinner. The big cousins weren’t bored at all.
As for N, he’s doing great. More than great actually. I’ve never seen so many smiles out of the kid. His facial expressions are becoming more animated and he’s freely giving out grins. My mom caught him smiling at his cousin who is only days younger. Sadly, I don’t have any pictures to show you from my phone but my sister caught a few on camera that I will upload when we get home. Precious.
My only complaint is that he is not sleeping past 3:30 am. That’s 2:30 am Texas time y’all. Not good. I’m not sure if it’s teething or the unfamiliar Pack N’ Play or what? Tonight he got relocated to another room so we’ll see how that goes.
Yesterday was a bit of a downer for the big boys. When M woke up I told him that his cousin was going home in the afternoon. My sister did the same to her son. They proceeded to fight and whine and play terribly with each other all morning. It had not been that way since we arrived. I’m sure it’s the pre-schooler way of processing sadness. Their parting hug was big and long and filled with superlatives like, “I had the best time ever!” And “I had the most, most fun with you!” Super sweet as my sister and I were choking back tears. I’m glad they’ll be reunited before we head home.
This week will be substantially more quiet with just me, the boys and my parents. There’s value in that too and I’m looking forward to more individual bonding…at the beach, pool, and dinner!
