Nathan’s faith and spiritual life is somewhat of a mystery to me because of his verbal delays. I know he is very spiritually attuned. I just don’t know the extent of his understanding.
The Beginner’s Bible is just right for him. I love reading it together. The illustrations are colorful and not overly cluttered. The stories are straightforward, and offer me a lead-in to tell him how much Jesus loves him.
Right now we are going through the Christmas story in The Beginner’s Bible before bedtime. My prayer for him is that as we learn about Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus, he would feel the love of Christ alive today. Nathan experiences the brokenness of this world on such an acute level. Jesus came for the broken and I know He came for Nathan. This Christmas I am enjoying the toddler Christmas stories through The Beginner’s Bible and hope that somehow God’s Word begins to grow in his heart in whatever unique and mysterious way God brings forth.
Just as when the angle Gabriel says, “Don’t be afraid. You are very special to God.” I want Nathan to know that he too, is very special to God.
This would make an excellent giveaway for the little ones in your life.
