I started a new 365 Devotional called Savor: Living Abundantly Where You Are, As you Are by Shauna Niequist. It was a birthday gift from a sweet friend. I displayed it on my coffee table in May anticipating and saving it for the new year. Today I opened it up and the line that jumped out to me was “start where you are.”
Clearly I don’t have all my ducks in a row and my ambitious goals sketched out, but I can start where I am. In the fog surrounding me at the start of 2016, I can take a step forward. And then another and another. Already I have some clarity around Nathan’s health. Now I can take one step at a time praying and hoping the haze will lift more and more. And that at the end of the year I will see how God directed my steps with purpose even when I couldn’t see clearly at the time.
So I will start 2016 right where I am, savoring each step, trusting the One who guides me.
In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” -Proverbs 16:9
