One Year Well Check

We have a little twerp! I don’t mean that in a negative way. I mean it in the most endearing, a-little-bit-worried-mom way.

Mac had his one year well check yesterday. I was sure that he would weigh 20 lbs by his one year appointment! He’s been feeling heavier to me but maybe it’s just that my left arm and upper back are getting tired from carrying him around everywhere. We even booked the appointment for him at 12 1/2 months so it gave him extra time to grow. Well this little guy only weighed in at 18 lbs, 1 oz. He’s in the less than 5th percentile!

Needless to say, I’m pushing the whole milk ALL DAY LONG! I was doing that before the appointment but he just isn’t super interested. I even gave him a pumpkin spice dessert which is loaded with fat. Anything to pack on those pounds including one PediaSure a day.

His height is decent, 55th percentile, which could account for some of the slow weight gain but really he should be going up, not falling off the charts. I actually thought he would rank higher on height due to his dad’s height…and I’m not a shorty either! I’m hoping the slow gains are part ex preemie issues and part genetics.

This next section is more for the grandparents and great grandma who want to know these things so feel free to skip over. Here are his stats over the last several visits:

12 1/2 mo Weight: 18# 1oz (<5 percentile) Height: 30 in (55 percentile)

6 mo Weight: 16# 4 oz (25th percentile) Height: 25 1/4 in (20th percentile)
