This past weekend my husband and I celebrated seven years. Lucky us!
The sun setting behind us in this wedding picture, is an eerie foreshadowing of all that we were leaving behind and the hard things we were walking towards. I could never have imagined, nor would I have wanted to, all that the last seven years have held for us – for better, for worse, in sickness, and in health. It feels like we’ve lived seven thousand lives together, not seven. Through it all we’ve grown in the grace and love of God. Here’s to many more, to love and to cherish until death do us part.
The traditional anniversary gift of seven years is made of copper. Copper instantly makes me think of pennies. I don’t need a lucky penny though. For whatever our future together holds, I need more of the grace and love of God.
The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.” – Lamentations 3:22-23
